Brief

Östergötland Stadsmission is a non-profit organization in Östergötland dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals and groups. Their services include providing shelters and emergency accommodation for the homeless, running social enterprises like second-hand stores to offer work opportunities, and offering counseling and rehabilitation for those struggling with addiction and mental health issues. They also support families and children in need through various outreach programs and advocate for the rights and needs of marginalized communities. Background

In Sweden, substance abuse and mental health issues are pressing societal challenges deeply intertwined with each other. Also, the perception of these problems and the fact that society fails to see the problem at large make it challenging to find a sustainable business model to enhance the quality of life and support this target group.

Challenge

We all want to believe that in Sweden, people receive the help they need, when they need it. That our collective welfare is there when life falls apart. But at Östergötland Stadsmission, we encounter a different reality. We meet people who haven't received the help they need and likely deserve. The course challenge is to identify and develop a sustainable business model tailored to ensure the possibility to provide the support needed to this target group addressing substance abuse and mental health issues.
